Saudi Dates Wholesale Pricing 2026: Grades, Seasons, MOQs and How Export Quotes Work

The first question every importer asks is “what’s the price per kilo?” — and the honest answer is that Saudi dates are quoted like any agricultural commodity: by grade, season, packaging, and volume. Understanding the four levers gets you an accurate quote in one exchange instead of five.

Lever 1 — Variety and grade

Ajwa from Madinah commands the premium tier, followed by Sukkari, Safawi, Sagai, and Khudri as strong commercial varieties. Within each variety, grading covers size, moisture, uniformity, and defect tolerance — the same Sukkari can differ meaningfully in price between premium carton-grade and industrial bulk-grade. Serious suppliers state grade specifications in writing.

Lever 2 — Season and timing

Harvest runs roughly August to October. Prices are typically most competitive at and just after harvest, firming as cold-store stock draws down through the year — and demand peaks sharply before Ramadan. Importers who contract early in the season buy better than those who chase stock in the pre-Ramadan squeeze.

Lever 3 — Packaging format

Bulk 5–10 kg cartons price lowest per kilo; consumer retail packs and gift boxes add packing cost but ship ready for shelf; private-label programs sit in between, with your brand printed at origin. State your intended format when requesting quotes — it changes both price and lead time.

Lever 4 — Volume and terms

Meaningful wholesale pricing starts at pallet quantities, with best rates at container level (a 20-ft container carries roughly 10–12 tonnes packed). Quotes come as FOB (loaded at Saudi port — you arrange freight) or CIF (delivered to your port with freight and insurance included). Ask for both; comparing them shows exactly what logistics is costing you.

Frequently asked questions

Why don’t exporters publish a fixed price list?

Because grade, season, packaging and volume move the number more than variety alone. A written quote against your specification is the real price list.

Can I get samples before committing?

Reputable exporters ship graded samples with specifications so your quality team approves before an order is placed.

Is halal certification included?

Yes — export documentation typically includes halal certification, certificates of origin, and phytosanitary certificates as your market requires.
